POSITION INFO:

This hands-on role supports the Engineering Test Lab by machining precision components using CNC and manual equipment. The primary responsibility is operating a CNC lathe to fabricate prototype and small batch production parts. Secondary duties include assisting with product testing, calibration of equipment, and maintaining lab standards. MAZAK CNC programming experience is a strong asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Responsibilities – CNC & Machining
●    Set up and operate CNC lathes and manual equipment (mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders) to produce high-precision components
●    Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to plan machining operations
●    Maintain tight tolerances on metal and plastic workpieces
●    Conduct inspections using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators
●    Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs as needed
●    Collaborate with engineering teams during prototype and small-batch manufacturing
Secondary Responsibilities – Testing & Calibration
●    Support engineering lab testing processes including setup and operation of test equipment
●    Calibrate hand gauges and precision instruments
●    Fabricate basic fixtures to support testing activities
●    Record clear and accurate test data and communicate results

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years CNC machining experience required; MAZAK programming a plus

EDUCATION:

High School/GED required; machining or manufacturing technical training preferred

TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Technical Skills:        CNC lathe operation, manual machining, blueprint reading, tolerancing, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, specialty gages
Technical Aptitude:    Mechanical troubleshooting, tooling knowledge, fabrication
Soft Skills:                Detail-oriented, self-driven, strong communication, teamwork

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Capable of lifting 50 lbs., manual dexterity, focused on precision
