POSITION INFO:
Primary responsibilities are layout and process improvements, support development of new processes, identify and implement improvements in packaging configurations and methods, lead and coordinate cost savings projects, lead and participate in kaizen events, establish, verify, and improve cost standards and machine cycle times, support all plant wide safety efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Identify opportunities and propose solutions by collecting empirical data and gather knowledge from others.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Support development of new processes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
• Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements.
• Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
• Establish equipment reliability programs to maximize equipment availability.
• Develop or test models of alternate designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or necessity of modification.
• Lead and coordinate cost savings projects.
• Identify and implement layout improvements.
• Support all safety efforts plant wide.
• Support all Continuous Improvement efforts plant wide.
• Openly communicate with associates at all levels – project status, data, ideas, etc.
• Establish and verify cost standards and opportunities for improvement.
• Establish and verify machine cycle times and opportunities for improvement.
• Determine and implement tracking measures for OEE on critical machines.
EXPERIENCE:
5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and tools a plus. Experience leading projects and working with a team.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, or similar degree.
TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Ability to effective present information and respond to questions from associates at all levels. Ability to utilize mathematical concepts to identify opportunities, manipulate data, and solve problems. Read, analyze, and interpret general engineering drawings, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Work independently or in a project team environment and within a defined deadline. Proficiency in the following software: Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access), CAD (UniGraphics preferred). Understanding of time studies and developing cost standards and ability to problem solve through project directional changes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on computers.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
Visual acuity to inspect products and machinery.
