POSITION INFO:

Responsible for designing and modifying molds and tools using CAD/FEA software (NX), PLM, SAP, and MS Office. Requires strong knowledge of design-for-performance, design-for-manufacturing, material properties, and manufacturing processes. The position requires great attention to detail, desire and ability to learn new concepts, operate in an evolving environment, and produce quality documentation efficiently in compliance with project timelines. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Create accurate 3D models and linked 2D drawings per company standards.
•    Evaluate 2D prints and, when necessary, update the information into a 3D parametric model.
•    Assist with enterprise data retrieval within the company’s ERP. 
•    Facilitate the approval process of engineering controlled documents by supplying 2D prints & 3D model art to product engineers when requested.
•    Review engineering controlled documents for correct formatting and procedural adherence; when necessary, modify and communicate the changes needed to correct the documents.
•    Utilize Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards in design, product development & drafting. 
•    Lead cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects surrounding mold design and efficiency. 
•    Assist in development of Molding Design Standards.
•    Work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects.
•    All other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 3 years in mold design engineering (related or consumer products).

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field.

TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Proficiency in 3D CAD (Siemens NX preferred), PLM, SAP, MS Office; strong communication and documentation skills; detail-oriented; minimal travel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Prolonged periods of standing in factory and at times, sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment.
