POSITION INFO:

Perform a variety of machining by virtue of the skill, ability, and knowledge acquired prior experience. Will be required to run all tool room equipment in a proficient manner, be able to work within required tolerances, and be flexible enough to move around frequently and be interrupted as needed, including assisting production or setup.  Must be able to work in a team environment and assist in training as needed. Certification or post-secondary education required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools, hand tools, or welders.

Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, or dial indicators.

Understand all associated tools, cutters, fixtures at the machine.

Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.

Select proper cutting tools and correct speeds and feeds, using good judgment in making adjustments in any and all circumstances.

Minor fabrication of tools to complete a job.

Knowledge of mathematics and shop trig.

Safely move and set up large pieces using the proper lifting devices.

Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.

Verify quality of each piece before moving to the next station. 

Continuously improve safety, quality, efficiency, and procedures to maximize job performance

Perform preventive maintenance on machine tools in area.

Maintain good housekeeping.

Must be able to work with multiple individuals in a group setting and to train in all areas as needed

Must be customer focused to interact with associates from other areas to provide services as needed.

EXPERIENCE:

2-3 years of experience in relevant field in addition to recognized accreditation. Full Set of Hand Tools and Toolbox Acquire and maintain PIV license.

EDUCATION:

A High School diploma or GED is required, General Maintenance experiences a plus. Post Secondary education or a Journeyman’s certification is required.

TRAINING AND SKILLS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
