POSITION SUMMARY:  The Mechanical Drafter creates and revises 2D engineering drawings and 3D models. They control revision changes and maintains drawing databases to ensure that current revisions and obsoleted revisions are files and saved according to SVF Engineering procedures. The Mechanical Drafter may perform product and application engineering tasks, as required, to provide technical guidance and complete technical tasks for internal and external customers. Works in a collaborative, hands-on, and fast paced environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Working independently and under limited direction to prepare clear, complete, and accurate detail component drawings from previous revision drawings, sketches and component parts.
•    Use SolidWorks to develop/create part models, assembly models and detailed manufacturing drawings.
•    Make final SolidWorks drawings and design layouts, checking dimensions of parts in relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole assemblies.
•    Utilize standard drafting practices, mathematical calculations, tolerance, and existing drawing formats to create accurate and well-defined drawing details.
•    Create Bill of Materials from assembly models in SolidWorks.
•    Create and/or maintain drawing databases.
•    Support R&D, technical evaluation, and product testing activities.
•    Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 
•    Technical Associate’s Degree from two-year college minimum or equivalent working experience in an engineering manufacturing environment.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 
•    2+ years of related experience and/or training in mechanical drafting using SolidWorks.
•    Experienced in SolidWorks, AutoCAD and SAP.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED: 
•    Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Working knowledge of basic Quality Assurance principles and practices.
•    Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff.
•    Proficient in using basic inspection tools to measure part dimensions.
•    Proficiency in MS Office.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  
•    Working experience with ISO 9001 Quality Systems.
•    Working knowledge with industrial ball valves.
•    Working experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances).
•    Working knowledge with industry standards such as ASTM, ANSI, ASME and BPE.
