POSITION SUMMARY: The Mechanical Drafter creates and revises 2D engineering drawings and 3D models. This position also maintains revision changes and drawing databases to ensure that current revisions and obsolete revisions are filed and saved according to SVF Engineering procedures. The Mechanical Drafter may perform product and application engineering tasks, as required, to provide technical guidance and complete technical tasks for both internal and external customers.
On-site position: Monday - Friday
Starting pay range: $28/hour.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work independently and under limited direction to prepare clear, complete, and accurate detail component drawings from previous revision drawings, sketches, and component parts.
- Create SolidWorks part models, assembly models, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Use SolidWorks to develop drawings and design layouts, checking dimensions of parts in relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to entire assemblies.
- Utilize standard drafting practices, mathematical calculations, tolerance, and existing drawing formats to create accurate and well-defined drawing details.
- Create Bill of Materials from assembly models in SolidWorks.
- Create and/or maintain drawing databases.
- Support R&D, technical evaluation, and product testing activities.
- Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001.
- Collaborate effectively within a fast-paced environment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 2+ years of related experience and/or training in mechanical drafting using SolidWorks
- Experienced in SolidWorks, AutoCAD and ISO 9001 Quality Systems.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Technical associate degree from two-year college or equivalent working experience in a manufacturing environment.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Working knowledge of basic Quality Assurance principles and practices.
- Basic inspection tool proficiency to measure part dimensions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Working knowledge of industrial ball valves.
- Working experience of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances).
- Working knowledge of industry standards such as ASTM, ANSI, ASME and BPE.
