POSITION INFO:

The primary responsibilities for this position are to establish, administer, monitor and improve the site safety systems, processes, and programs. The Compliance Specialist works with site leadership to direct and implement key initiatives for environmental, health and safety programs to ensure a positive, safe, healthy and incident-free work environment and is responsible for location compliance with all environmental and safety regulatory agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Maintain a culture that is aligned with NIBCO’s EHS goals and objectives, with continuous EHS improvements. Serves as safety and environmental champion. 
•    Manage, direct, coach, lead and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner.
•    Oversight and maintaining of Local, State and Federal programs for both Environmental and Safety areas, including timely internal audits.
•    Timely and accurate reporting of all safety, environmental and regulatory records and documents.
•    Identifies safety and environmental training needs and puts processes and resources in place to implement.
•    Ensures facility awareness of OSHA (state and federal) regulations and best industry practices by developing and implementing effective communication of safety and environmental requirements at the site.
•    Orients efforts on prevention and proactive approaches to safety and environmental issues.
•    Develops cooperative relationships with appropriate federal, state and local regulatory agencies.   
•    Develops partnership with the safety managers/coordinators at other NIBCO locations and WHQ, as well as cross-functional business partnerships.    
•    Manages internal First Responder Activity and Certifications – Participates in emergency situations as needed.
•    Ensures safe practices are followed in all personal tasks.
•    Plans and coordinates monthly facility training to meet OSHA annual training requirements.
•    Develops effective reporting and other management processes as business needs change.
•    Ensures personal skills and knowledge are current in the safety and environmental functional areas.
•    Works with Plant Leadership, area mangers and Associate Safety Team to sustain/support production needs.
•    Maintains effective filing and record keeping for all local activities affecting compliance requirements.

EXPERIENCE:

3 to 4 years of Environemant Health and Safey in manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge of OSHA Environmental Health and Safety regulations.

EDUCATION:

High School diploma or GED required.

Associate or bachelor's degree preferred. 

TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Computer skills and Microsoft office suite, Knowledge of and ability to conduct required regulatory monitoring – Lead/Silica Air Quality Monitoring, Industrial Hygiene and Hearing Conservation monitoring, DOT regulatory certifications for HAZMAT handling, transport and emissions to permit. EHS Software, SDS, Compliance to OSHA 300, Lean/6S

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Ability to continuously stand or walk. Ability to climb stairs/ platforms/ roof access ladders regularly, ability to bend, squat & lift < 35 pounds, and must be able work in varying climate condition.
