POSITION INFO:
Designs and monitors products, manufacturing processes and associated tooling for the Nacogdoches plant product line with emphasis on processes and tooling.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following.
* Designs new and alters existing products as directed by corporate engineering and marketing.
o Product Design includes the design of core boxes and patterns for foundry production. Designer supports manufacturing by designing and improving tools for both quality and through put requirements.
* Maintains and improves existing products per customer request in alignment with appropriate national standards.
* Enters and maintains BOM in SAP and engineering data base for both new and existing products.
* Establishes and maintains product drawings and material specifications, both electronic and hard copies, to support manufacturing process.
* Supports manufacturing to overcome process problems.
* Supplies quality department with tools used to monitor product quality.
* Provides field engineering product support to corporate legal and marketing.
* Designs and improves tooling and gages necessary for machining operation.
o Tooling includes:
* Trim dies and swedging tools for foundry cleaning room
* CNC jaws for turning lathes
* Special cutting tools
* Box tools and boring tools for conventional machines
* All required cutting tools for machining operation both CNC and conventional machines
* Designed and purchased gauges to support product measurement.
* Design of Assembly and testing fixtures for manufacturing
* Setup sheets for each product component to guide manufacturing in machining and assembly operations.
* Resource for corporate and plant cross functional teams.
* Other duties may be assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
* Training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving manufacturing production problems.
EDUCATION:
* Degree preferred in engineering or 5 yrs min experience preferred in manufacturing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
* Ability to bend, squat, & lift < 35 pounds frequently
